Marcoemilio Camera

He started his musical career by studying the organ, together with classical studies and then he dedicated himself to history of music at the University of Pavia, at the School of music Paleography in Cremona. Being a scholarship holder he graduated in Musicology in 1988 with the highest marks, with a thesis about the roman cantata of the 1600s. He advanced his specializations by winning the doctorate of research in music philology.
He attended perfectioning courses dealing with the praxis of the basso continuo under the guidance of Walter Kolneder.

He started his collaboration with music libraries in 1987 deepening the intrinsic aspects of new technology: for three years he took part in the SBN Music project for the creation of the 'Base Dati Musica Italiana', he was employed in the IRIS project of the Ministry of Cultural heritage at the Library of the Milan Conservatory.
From 1989 to 1996 he was the scientific director of the research "Catalogue of Italian cantatas preserved in the libraries worldwide", financed by CNR (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche).

An expert of cataloguing and management of computer science in music libraries, he personally took care of the management and he held courses in Conservatories and Institutions all over Italy: Milano, Trento, Bari, Ortona, Cagliari, Campobasso, Napoli, Cremona, Sassari, Livorno, Bergamo, Foggia, Monopoli.

From 1997 to 2000 he was the secretary of the italian section of the IAML (International Association of Music Libraries).

He collaborated with and was artistic advisor of the Teatro alle Vigne in Lodi, for which he took care of the editorial office for the publications of music events for many years.

He also dedicated himself to the music collaboration and to the achievement of performances of the music in theatrical scenes, attending to the composition and/or the arrangements of many performances: working with the director Carlo Rivolta he took care of the music scenes for the performances Giobbe, Qohelet, Cantico dei Cantici (with Eleonora Brigliadori), Critone (with Gerardo Amato), Da donna a Donna, performing it in many italian cities both as soloist and as as part of a chamber ensemble.

He taught History of music in the Conservatory of "G. Verdi" in Milan, and, from 1989 to 1998 in the Music association "F. Gaffurio" in Lodi, of which he is music director since 1997.

Winner of national competitive examination he became a permanent state teacher in 1993 at Conservatory of music of Campobasso.

From 2000 he is the chief librarian in the Conservatory of Como
