The Como Conservatory
The Como Conservatory of music was founded in 1982 as a separate section of Milan Conservatory, obtaining autonomy in 1996. From 1989 it is in an important building in Via Cadorna, built in the Fifteenth Century, restored by the City of Como in 1971.
In spring 2010 was placed in a new hall (the "Crociera", completely refurbished), the great organ with three keyboards built by "Organi Zanin" in Codroipo (Udine, Italy).
The Conservatory has Undergraduate (Bachelor 1st level) and Graduate (Master 2nd level) courses in the point of view of the reform project and to make besides the Italian students, the Conservatory welcomes at the moment foreign students from Albania, Bulgaria, South Korea, Swiss Confederation, Croatia, Germany, Japan, Greece, Guatemala, Latvia, England, Malta, Poland, Romania, Russia, Spain, Turkey, Hungary, United States of America and Uzbechistan.
The Conservatory of Como, since adopting the Erasmus University Charter in 2006, has made agreements for students and teachers with high level Musical Institutes in Austria, Germany, France, Ireland, Norway, Latvia, Poland, Spain, Sweden and Turkey. The Erasmus Exchanges are at the present time one of the strongest points in the innovation and internationalization process undertaken by the Conservatory.
The activity in the institute is focused on three fundamental spheres: the didactics, the production and the musical research. Our courses: Jazz and Classical Instruments, Singing (Jazz and "Belcanto"), Electronic Music and Sound Technologies, Historical Keyboards, Choir Conducting, Composition, Music Teaching.

The Symphony Orchestra, performances have been Beethoven's 5th and 7th Symphonies, 2nd Symphony by Brahms besides the collaboration with the "Teatro Sociale di Como" for the the performances of the operas by Manuel De Falla. Last performances have been: Gabriel Fauré, Requiem Op. 48; Georges Bizet, Carmen, Workshop and Concerts; Puccini's "Gianni Schicchi", Workshop and Concerts.
The "Elettrosensi Ensemble" founded in 1999, is dedicated to studying the possibilities offered from electro-sound technology.
The five choirs including two Laboratory Choirs, a Madrigal Choir, a Chamber Choir, a Polyphonic Choir.
The Conservatory offers continual opportunities for collaborative performance, from chamber music to orchestras, ensembles run by individual studios include the Simphonic Wind Ensemble, the Ensemble '900 and the Percussion Ensemble.

The Como Conservatory promotes many musical activities on place:

Sabati in musica - the traditional event that for years has attracted the public in Como on Saturday afternoon for a concert at 6,15 pm, in the auditorium in the Conservatory.
- The traditional Christmas Concert never misses (soloist, choir and instruments from the Conservatory) which is held in churchs in Como or nearby, besides many collaborations with pubblic or private corporations in Como and Lombardy region.
Polyphoniae - meetings dedicated to choirs and chorality, the only program of its kind organized by a Conservatory in Italy, that has reached in 2006 its eighth edition.
Elettrosensi - musical meetings and stage cared by the Electronic music in Como.
Momenti musicali - students’ performances at the end of the academic year.
