Didactic-artistic proposals
The Conservatory in Como offers a complete teaching-program in the following sectors: instrumental, vocal, composing, in choir direction and in the new techniques, with the aid of a staff of high-standard professional teachers.

We want to bring your attention on some sector, indicating courses and initiatives particularly interesting.
* The EU academic system was reformed in 1999/2000 to comply to the Bologna process directives. The new University System includes two (or three) levels of degrees: a three year bachelor's degree, called "Titolo accademico di Primo Livello" and a two year course of specialisation, leading to a degree called "Titolo accademico di Secondo Livello" or "Titolo accademico Specialistico" (Master's degree). Both degrees include a final thesis work.
SINGING 1
The conservatory offers the singers a complete teaching-program and initiatives:
- Opera singing course
- Scenic Art Course (diction, body awareness, scenic presence, scenic performance of acting, airs, concerts, exc...)
- Madrigal Vocal Group
- Opera Choir
- Italian course for foreign singers (pronunciation and metrical analysis of opera booklets in italian)

JAZZ 1
We point out the lively activity of the Big Band (brass, piano, double-bass, percussion). The Conservatory has been honoured with the National Art Prize in 2005. Jazz Musica (Ministry of Education, of University and Research) for the work on the tradition of Jazz, particularly on the arrangements. As well as the course on Jazz, we point out the ones on double-bass, percussion and the “Spiritual and Gospel choir performance”.

CHORAL CONDUCTING
The Music Division's curriculum includes "traditional" musical training that focus on you as a "whole artist." The variety of performance and creative opportunities here gives you real world experience and makes your training at The Como Conservatory unique. You will learn from professional artists-top-notch teachers who are also today's most active soloists and conductors, and nationally and internationally known guest artists. As a result, our students and alumni win prestigious competitions and can be found performing and conducting all over Europe.
The Como Conservatory has a staff of theachers and many disciplines and initiatives on choral conducting and singing that has no equals in any other Italian Conservatory.

COMPOSITION
Composition training at The Como Conservatory emphasizes musical fluency and creativity through a practical approach. The academic program is an advanced degree for experienced student composers focusing more on developing the individual's voice. In addition to the private lesson, composition majors meet weekly as a group for the Composition Seminar. Frequent composer concerts offer opportunities for students to hear their works performed in public.
Particularly interesting courses:
- Instrumentation, orchestration and transcription-creation of a group of audio examples containing registrations of chords by different instrumentals ensembles, for composers and to develop the tone percepition.
- “Ars combinandi”, “Ars componendi”: two ways to confront and develop musical material (character, melodic profile and harmonic density), teacher: Ivan Fedele. Contemporary instrumental techniques. Harmonic system not-tonal.
- Space and time in contemporary composition. Ensemble laboratory for the performance of modern and contemporary music.

ELECTRONIC MUSIC AND SOUND TECHNIQUES
- Three-year course directed on composition and Technique-Performer
- Two-year with 4 special centers for specific areas of E-music:
- Sound design
- Audio-Video System
- Computerized Musical Didactics
- Musical composition and production for the Media
- Electro-acoustic techniques
Como Conservatory in 2005 has begun with the Polytechnic in Milan, Polo in Como, a didactic cooperation, of production and research in a course for Specialized Degree in Sound Engineering and Design.
